In 2003 we purchased a 1950's ranch style home in San Diego.  Although we only have 1300 sq. ft of space, we really wanted to keep our laundry inside (rather than relocate to the garage).  We decided making it a functional and pretty space was a priority for us.  Now it's not such an eyesore for guests on their way to the restroom.
